Who is Capture?
Who is Capture? Well, Capture UK Limited was set up in Edinburgh, Scotland by local producer Mark Taylor to enable a group of video production freelancers to work together on bigger projects. Initially Capture was set up to be a video production company with our work being included in Comedy Map Of Britain (BBC2) and Theatre Biz: The Shakespearean Job (BBC4).
As more and more work came from the entertainment industry we started creating our own productions and became more involved with comedians. The natural next step for Capture was to start promoting comedy and organising comedy events, including Captured Comedy and Capture Comedy Café. The latter ran successfully for 3 years within Edinburgh University. We also produced two Edinburgh Fringe shows, Mongrel Nation and The Boon Show Live.
Radio is another interest for us here at Capture and for 2 years we produced and wrote comedy and factual shows for the internet radio station Dilated Radio which sadly went offline in 2005.
In 2004 we made a short film with New Zealand comic Mike Boon called Phobic, the premise being “an agoraphobic guy falls in love with a claustrophobic girl”, you know, a fairly standard plot line! The film also features another NZ comic Rhys Darby who apparently now Manages New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi bongo accapela-rap-funk comedy folk duo.
We have dabbled with clay-mation and made an advert for Fosters Lager in which two little clay dogs are on a beach trying to keep their Fosters cool.
From 2004 to 2006 we had fun with our stage show Pornaoke, based on a tongue-in-cheek porno take on karaoke, which promoted safe sex and was featured on television, radio and in magazines around the world.
More recently we made four web TV programmes called Balloon TV hosted by Stephen K Amos for Gilded Balloon, and have moved into music, managing the electrifying Celtic sound of Jacob's Pillow, which has been a long time coming as music has always played a big part in the lives of most of the Capture crew. We are still producing comedy sketches, which you will soon be able to check out along with some of our comedy friends on our new Capture Comedy site.
As you can see we’re a little bit more than just a video production company. The Capture crew are made up of passionate freelancers both technically and creatively who love the art of storytelling. We love to create and even though comedy has been a big factor in our success our aim is to produce for other genres creating programmes and shows for stage, screen and radio that inspire, promote and entertain.
